Prevention, Detection and Surgical Management

Some skin lesions are immediately visible; others change gradually and without obvious signs. Regular dermatological examination makes it possible to identify them early — before they require more complex intervention. At Florissant Dermatology Clinic, Dr Nina Winterton and Dr Charis Ziori manage the full diagnostic and surgical pathway, with the precision expected of two board-certified dermatologists (FMH) and a genuinely individual approach to every patient.

Our Specialities

Mole Checks

A thorough clinical examination of pigmented lesions allows their nature and behaviour to be assessed, and guides any decision on further investigation.

Dermoscopy

A non-invasive technique for examining skin lesions in detail, dermoscopy provides a level of diagnostic accuracy beyond what the naked eye can achieve — ensuring well-founded clinical decisions from the outset.

Mole Mapping

Systematic photographic mapping of moles enables precise monitoring over time, and is particularly valuable for patients with numerous naevi or a personal or family history of melanoma.

Skin Biopsies

Where a lesion warrants further investigation, a skin sample is taken and analysed in a laboratory to obtain a reliable histological diagnosis — the foundation of any sound treatment decision.

Excision of Skin Lesions

Surgical removal of benign or suspicious lesions is performed as a day procedure, with attention given both to clinical effectiveness and to the aesthetic outcome.

Precancerous Lesions

Some lesions are not yet malignant but carry a risk of progression. Early, targeted treatment reduces that risk and avoids more involved management at a later stage.

Skin Cancers

Melanoma, basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma: each diagnosis is approached thoroughly and without haste, within a framework of medical and surgical care tailored to the individual patient.

Mohs Micrographic Surgery

Dr Nina Winterton holds specialist expertise in Mohs micrographic surgery, the surgical technique of choice for certain skin cancers. The tumour is removed layer by layer, with immediate histological examination of the margins at each stage — enabling complete removal of cancerous cells whilst preserving as much healthy surrounding tissue as possible. This expertise is available directly at the clinic.

Every consultation begins with a careful clinical examination. The proposed treatment plan follows from a thorough assessment of the lesion, its context and the patient's circumstances never from a predetermined protocol. Follow-up is arranged for as long as the situation requires.
